Jon da Silva-Spence is a Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist and Harpist.  Jon was born in Guyana, South America, and has lived in Canada for many years.  Jon learned music and to play the Guitar from the Ursuline Sisters in Guyana, South America.  Jon Sang in Choirs from the age of 8 years and started songwriting, singing, playing the guitar and performing solo at 14 years old.
As a youth, Jon sang in a national hand-picked school choir in Guyana, singing for dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Fidel Castro, Indira Ghandi and many other dignitaries while on State visits to the newly independent Guyana in South America.
Jon went on to Perform at Concerts and festivals gaining popularity  and winning a Prestigious award at the Guyana Music Festival for his composition "Cook-up Rice" and his group placing third in the National Folk Dance competition.  Jon also led a youth group in Guyana for four years which performed Folk Music, Dances and volunteer work for the poor, the elderly, and the sick. During this time his group called SJG released two of his musical compositions, which were recorded at Radio Demerara, and had radio time for two years in Guyana.

In Canada, Jon has performed off and on in Clubs, at Weddings, for Funerals, in Church Choirs, at Festivals and Parties.  As a Social Worker,  Jon used music as therapy with many of his clientele.

In 2003 Jon began playing the harp which he felt was esoteric and needed to be added to his already great repertoire of musical skills. The harp, he felt, reached audiences in a deep and profound way.  Especially those who suffer with cognitive illnesses.

In 2011, Jon and a group of friends formed  Sing Out My Soul which grew into what is now known as AlmaLuAlma.  Initially, the group started by performing for Senior Residential Homes in Calgary.  Within a year, Jon and friends were successfully performing at many homes and other venues.

Now, Jon is a seasoned and experienced performer, with exceptional musical abilities.  He is especially skillful in reaching audiences and producing and sharing the magic of fun, laughter, joy and his musical abilities.
Jon is instrumental in co-leading the Band with the vital support and assistance of Grai Pashak.
Jon believes very passionately that
AlmaLuAlma is about Love!
